Hip and knee arthrosis are associated with pain as well as limitations in physical function, quality of life and ability to work. Guidelines recommend exercise therapy and education as primary treatment strategies.
However, their potential is often not fully utilised in health care practice. There is a lack of offers available nationwide, and the quality of current programmes could be further improved, especially for older people with osteoarthritis and other concomitant diseases, as well as with regard to training adherence at home and ensuring permanent behavioural change.
